Care Guide
Caring for Your Stained Glass Art
Your stained glass art from Flying Pig Glass has been carefully crafted, then polished and coated with a quality wax designed to protect, preserve and enhance the finish. In some cases a patina may have been applied prior to polishing to change the silvery solder to a dark or coppery tone to complement the design of the stained glass art.
Over time, solder of any color will naturally age, generally turning slightly darker over the course of years or decades. This is a natural process and is perfectly normal and to be expected.
Stained glass art is best cared for by regular light dusting only. Never use abrasive cleaners or an abrasive cloth on your art. Never put pieces in the dishwasher for any reason. Aggressive cleaning will damage the finish and may cause pieces of glass to loosen or fall out.
We recommend hanging your stained glass art in a secure and safe manner, preferably from a picture hook if on the wall (use an appropriate size hook) or from a secure hanger( if not on the wall). We do not recommend using suction-cup type hangers – they always fail!
